Cherokee Adoption

I am looking to talk with other adoptive parents who have adopted children through the Cherokee Adoption Unit. I would like more in formation on what to expect from this agency.

The only information I have about Native American (Cherokee) adoption comes from two books by Barbara Kingsolver, "The Bean Trees" and "Pigs In Heaven".

To help waiting children find permanency, we partner closely with States, Tribes, and Territories to make sure a child receives as much exposure to the public as appropriately possible.

The Cherokee Nation Adoption Program takes their responsibility to Cherokee children seriously. The mission of Indian Child Welfare is to provide tribal children, who are unable to be cared for by their biological family, a safe and permanent home.
